An Immobilized Baseball Weekend

We have been so excited about Caleb’s baseball tourney in Bemidji since the minute the schedule came out!

Not excited about Caleb being immobilized with “little league elbow” yesterday :(

Super excited about lake and pool swimming.  We stayed at the Hampton Inn on Lake Bemidji.  The non-immobilized kids swam for seven hours between the lake, the swimming pool and the awesome indoor/outdoor hot tub!

Super excited about Paul and Babe, Keith’s Pizza, seeing Bemidji friends, going to the hospital where Mark was born and driving down Lincoln Log Lane again!

Remembering great memories from when our address was Bemidji, MN and making new memories on our mini-immobilized baseball vacation!

Monday and Wednesday Mornings

Looking for Dad, Jayne, Mark and Brynn on Monday and Wednesday mornings?

IMG_0540

They are not home…they are hitting homers in the backyard!

Batting first for the Twins, and giving about a 25% effort…Mark Yokom!

 IMG_0552 IMG_0553 IMG_0555IMG_0557

After the game, Mom suggested that Dad and Mark work on his swing in the backyard.  Mark quickly replied, “Nah.”

Was 25% effort too lofty?  Look at the enthusiasm of Mark at 3rd base!

IMG_0570

Batting second for the Twins, and giving full personal effort on top of cheering (loudly) the entire game for her team…Jayne Yokom!

IMG_0543  IMG_0545

“GO MAX, BIG HIT!” “RUN FAST JOEY!”

IMG_0584

Notably, Jayne is the only girl on the Twins team. When Dad said, “Do you want me to try to get you switched to a team with girls on it?”  Jayne asked to hear the roster, and when she heard Liam was a Twin, she said, “No I like my team.”

IMG_0588

Batting first for the Dodgers, and DEFINITELY more excited to wave to her crowd then to play baseball…Brynn Yokom!

IMG_0602

It appears the other team realized our second baseman wasn’t the strongest fielder :\

IMG_0594

Brynn and Lydia…will soon be hitting the books on Monday and Wednesday mornings instead of homers!  Look out kindergartner, these Dodgers are on their way!

If someone gets sick or hurt, I’m in!

Caleb’s baseball team was short on players this weekend, so Luke was asked to “suit up”.

Luke doesn’t get excited over much, but Mom overheard him telling Brynn with so much hope and anticipation, “If someone gets sick or hurt, I’m in!”

IMG_0516  IMG_0517

And then Dan the Man got beat up on a slide home, and Luke not only got in…he got in batting CLEAN UP right behind his Big Bro!

We Love Our Dad!

We spoiled our Dad today!

Actually the spoiling started last week…Caleb and Luke HAD to get Dad a new baseball glove for Father’s Day.  Papa was able to help us pick out the perfect glove.  On the way home from the store last Sunday, we decided we could surprise Dad a week early OR the little three would tell him he was getting a baseball glove before the actual gift giving.

It was decided to surprise Dad a week early.

After the first round of “catch”, Caleb announced, “Dad is snagging everything with his new mitt.”

We are considering finding our snagging everything dad an intramural baseball team for his spare time :)

Today we spoiled Dad with:

homemade dog tag necklaces and homemade suncatchers (also worn as a necklace)…    IMG_0479

and Cards…IMG_0481

Caleb’s card had a baseball and Bison theme, and a note saying, “Thank you for being an awesome dad!”

Brynn went with a Frozen theme for her card and then taped it up into a ball making it a difficult read.

Mark celebrated his “fothr” with a baseball and “Bisen” themed card!

Jayne’s card is about love, hearts, fishing and “the Bisn”!

And Luke wished dad a Happy Father’s Day, a Happy Dad Day and a Home Run with his card!

It’s no secret, we love our dad, and our dad loves the Bison, Bisn, Bisen, baseball and us!

When Dad went to school conferences, Caleb’s teacher said to Dad, “You must REALLY love your job.”

Yep, we love our dad…he is the best dad ever!

Matching

Daddy, Jayne and Brynn enjoyed their exclusive invite to the Sheyenne Crossing Picnic today!

Live music, a picnic and a balloon maker.

Great Grandpa and Grandma looked awesome in their matching balloon hats, and Jayne and Brynn were over the moon with their matching balloon animals!  Such a fun time!

Auntie Melissa, Mom, Brynn, Brody, Jayne and Mark had an awesome week of Bible School this week.

Auntie Melissa and Mom were co-leaders of the 4-5 year old class.  On the way to Bible School one night, the kids asked, “Was Auntie Melissa happy when she got the bible school job?”

Uff, she was happy and the competition to lead the 4-5 year old class is STEEP!

Today was the last day of Bible School, after we went to Dairy Queen to celebrate Gramma June’s birthday…

Kate noticed, “Auntie, ours are matching!”

Too much matching fun for one day!

Happy Birthday night Mark!

The birthday boy could not have been happier with the Nerf Guns and Legos he received as gifts.  After a delicious Rhombus Guys birthday supper, the birthday boy got right to work building his new Legos!

 IMG_0465 IMG_0468

A full day of fun for a super special birthday boy.

Mark, you like to dance, your best friend is Jayne, movies make you cry, you are working on growing your hair long, you prefer Legos over sports, you get tired during the smallest amount of exercise UNLESS there is a cute girl in your presence and you smile ear to ear every morning, noon and night.  Your heart is kind and your soul is patient…you were an amazing seven year old, and we know you are going to be an amazing eight year old too!  Happy, happy birthday to our low key and happy 8 year old guy!
