Jackpot!

Round Two: Spring Break 2013

Off to Minneapolis!

Jackpot!  Got a steal of a deal on a hotel room through priceline!

Bummer, they forgot to vacuum our room prior to us arriving…

Scan0036

The boys wanted to leave a note to “help them out” :\

Jackpot!  Got to meet the Nordeens at Ikea for breakfast…Kirby is just as cute as could be!

Jackpot! A Sears employee sells us/scalps us tickets to our next attraction.

The “deal” still seems a little shady…but one cannot argue…

the deal was definitely a steal (no pun intended?!*)

Scan0037

Jackpot! 8+ hours of fun!

In fact, our crew looked like they were having so much fun that we attracted a new friend!

The end of the day conclusion, “We should do this every year.”

Jackpot!

Bye, Bye Bunny Hill

Round One: Spring Break 2013

It is official, my years on the bunny hill are over.

The whole crew can do the BIG hills!

sb 1 ski

Caleb, Luke and Mark…old news.

Jayne went from turtle (the boys would go down four times to Jayne’s one time) to darn near beating Luke!  Luke is an in control BULLET on the ski hills…Jayne is a bullet with control in progress :\

Brynn is still on the skiing harness only because she just cannot be trusted yet!

“I like to do jumps.”

Yeah, and her daddy (who is so beyond weak for her) allows her to steer the both of them over jumps.  Last run of the trip, I am standing at the base of the hill, and I see Brynn skiing over a jump ALONE.  Next, I see her daddy literally jump and dive for the harness straps.  Then I see daddy laying in the fetal position on the jump and NO BRYNN.  Sooooo, I sprint an unplanned hill work out (the Fargo streets have not prepared me for the incline :\).  Out of breath, I soon see Brynn “driving her car” and skiing towards me.  I play defense to stop her from continuing down the hill alone.  Brynn says, “No mom, I DO THE JUMPS.”  With the baby safe, I see daddy start to move and thankfully he only suffered with his shoulder dislocating!

Next day, daddy recalls the event as, “I must have channeled my inner superman to be able to jump and grab the harness.”

Mom does NOT recall the event in the same fashion!

Uff…despite the scare, we had an absolutely fabulous time.  40 degrees each day, no wind, no crowds and no more bunny hill!

3rd Game of the day—T-W-O points!!

Luke’s team was invited to scrimmage at half time of the Bison basketball game.

Not enough players…Mark was recruited to play too!

First two points for the gold team…Luke Yokom!!  IMG_5569IMG_5572

Also note worthy…we have never seen Mark run so much or so fast…all of the while in fleece pajama pants!

A small miracle that Mark did not combust!

All in all, a great year for Spartan 3rd and 4th grade basketball!

Homemade Love!

One could argue if Mom ever looks better than she does on Valentine’s Day…

On Valentine’s Day, Mom wears homemade Love!

Sweet…It’s Chinese New Year

Sweet girls

Sweet kids

IMG_5383

A sweet plan to meet our friends at a local Chinese restaurant for lunch to celebrate the year of the snake UNTIL

a not so sweet BLIZZARD ruined our plans.

No worries, we will get Chinese take out for dinner.

Uh oh, the city almost shut down by dinner so no take out.

Chef Dad to the rescue…”I will make homemade lo mein.”

Not so sweet rookie mistake, Dad uses CUPS of sugar instead of teaspoons of sugar.

Too sweet to eat :)

Friday Night Lights

Uncle Zube’s Napoleon Imperial girls basketball team vs the Gackle-Streeter-Medina Firebirds

We will be there!

The kids LOVED Gackle.

When we pulled up to the school, Caleb asked, “How many years did you go to school here?”

Mom said, “12.”

“Isn’t it kind of small for 12 years?”

Small in size, but BIG in FUN!

IMG_5358

Can you believe our Uncle coaches a basketball team all by himself?!*

 IMG_5349 IMG_5338

And when we weren’t cheering on the Imperials (and their coach) to victory, we were:

  • Eating a school cafeteria supper (poor girl had to get her calculator out to add up our bill)
  • Getting snacks or pop at the concessions (once again, calculator out :\)
  • Registering for the garbage can full of food raffle
  • Half time BINGO
  • Finding Uncles’ and Mom’s names on trophies and banners (Heroes…Ha!)
  • Helping uncle after the game in the locker room (five extra Imperials in the postgame huddle)

And then, if that was not enough fun…free throw contest at the end of the game!

Three two liters trophies to show for three winning shots!

  IMG_5362IMG_5361

Important to note that we could have had 5 trophies, but Uncle Bob and Auntie Melissa could not swish under pressure :)

Also important to note that unanimously Friday Night Gackle Lights was proclaimed,

“BEST FRIDAY NIGHT EVER!”
