Chapter Six: CLEARLY it is going to be a great school year!

 IMG_7659

Luke’s glasses were waiting for him upon his return from his first day of fourth grade.

“I cannot believe how much better I can see with these things on.”

Clearly, Luke needed glasses.

Clearly, our book on this school year has just started, but the book is sure to be a mixture of comedy, drama, mystery and splash of satire.

Here we go!!

Chapter Five: 2013-14 school year

The triplets are separated one more year!

My tummy already hurts thinking about sending our baby to kindergarten and our oldest to junior high next year.  Who can I petition to freeze time or at the very least slow it?

Chapter Four: 2013-14 school year

Chapter Four:

Jayne becomes a first grader!

IMG_7562

We are super excited to watch Jayne grow this year…Dad and Mom predict that she is going to “take off”…her confidence and understanding are mountains higher than they were last year at this time.  So proud of this first grader…it is going to be a great year!

Chapter Three: 2013-14 school year

Chapter Three:

Mark becomes a first grader!

IMG_7587

We are super excited to watch Mark grow this year…he was so brave this year compared to last year.  I suppose this is a sign that he too will get big on us (side note, at least Mark still likes to sit on Mom’s lap from time to time…I can barely breathe when he does cuz he is a big little guy, but the loss of breath is worth it!).  Mark smiles as he goes to school and when he comes home from school…same smile.  So proud of this first grader…it is going to be a great year!

Chapter Two: 2013-14 school year

Chapter Two:

Luke becomes a fourth grader!

IMG_7602IMG_7595  IMG_7599 IMG_7600IMG_7598

We are super excited to watch Luke grow this year!  Luke loves to learn and school comes very easily for him (thankful for both of these things because with Luke’s “strong willed ways”, we are not sure what we would do if this wasn’t the case)!  So proud of this fourth grader…it is going to be a great year!

Chapter One: 2013-14 school year

Chapter One:

Caleb becomes a fifth grader…YES, his last year of elementary school…sniff, sniff.

IMG_7605

IMG_7607 IMG_7611 IMG_7608

We are super excited to watch Caleb grow this year.  Academically, Caleb took off last year…we are hoping this momentum continues.  Moms hovering momentum has come to a screeching halt for this fifth grader.  Somewhere between these at home back to school pictures and Caleb sitting in his fifth grade desk (literally), Caleb decided he was too cool for Mom’s picture needs…yep, no more in school pictures.  By the end of the day, cool Caleb had decided on no more public hugs and no more visiting him at school for any reason (Caleb is thinking about if he will allow us, his parents, to attend his music concerts and the like at school…he will get back to us).  Ok, hovering Mom is going to jack these new rules up to nerves and hope that the rules fade away real soon.  Despite the new too cool attitude, we are so proud of this fifth grader…it is going to be a great year!

Our Longfellow Lions are Back in their Den!

Our smiles say we are happy to be back to school!

The biggest smile (not pictured) was Dad’s!

IMG_7618

The kids were lucky enough to go on a back to school shopping spree with Gramma Rose…doesn’t Gramma have fabulous taste?

Speaking of taste, the kids picked donuts with bacon for breakfast…an interesting combination…not a crumb was leftover…YUM!

Ready, Set, Let the 2013-14 school year begin!

And let Dad’s second term as “Longfellow sign chair” begin too!

Dance Your Heart Out

Dance Camp was amazing.

Brynn and Jayne felt like true princesses, and the amount of time and the dedication put in by their teachers (who are ten years old) was unbelievable.

Dance Your Heart Out 2013 Dance Camp Performance was held this afternoon.

To start the performance, each dancer was introduced by the teachers.  As the dancer’s name was called, she slid down the playset slide in a homemade tu-tu and danced to her spot for the performance.

Certificates of participation, framed pictures of the dancers, homemade crowns and personalized cookies followed the performance.

The dancers and their teachers on the ends!

Priceless at so many levels!

For the second year in a row, our weather did not cooperate for us to enjoy Noah’s Ark, so we “settled” for the Wilderness Resort--

America's Largest Waterpark Resort featuring 4 outdoor and 4 indoor water parks

A super fun time with friends.

A super fun trip.

Memories that make our hearts happy!

A Dog-gone Good Time

Millennium Park in the heart of downtown Chicago…

an unprecedented combination of stunning architecture, sculpture and landscape design.

Jay Pritzker Pavilion

This state-of-the-art sound system, the first of its kind in the country, was designed to mimic the acoustics of an indoor concert hall by distributing enhanced sound equally over both the fixed seats and the lawn.  The Pavilion is home to the Grant Park Music Festival and Jayne Yokom doing the splits.

Cloud Gate

A 12-foot-high arch provides a gate to the concave chamber beneath the sculpture, inviting visitors to touch its mirror-like surface and to see their image reflected back from a variety of perspectives.
Inspired by liquid mercury, the sculpture is among the largest of its kind in the world.

Crown Fountain

The fountain consists of two 50-foot glass block towers at each end of a shallow reflecting pool. The towers project video images of Chicago citizens.  The faces have water flowing through an outlet in the screen to give the illusion of water spouting from the people’s mouths.

And you cannot go to a Chicago park and NOT have a Chicago Dog!
